The Mountain Shakespeare Festival, performs under the sky and stars
in scenic Pine Mountain Club in the Frazier Park area, launches
its third
full season on July 5, 2008 through July 27, bringing top-notch

Shakespeare offering is the ever-delightful A Comedy of Errors.

action sports will return this summer to compete in the highly anticipated
Second Annual S3 Supergirl Jam. The unique three-day event featuring
surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding competitions will run in
conjunction with the 2008 Honda U.S. Open of Surfing and is guaranteed
to be jam-packed full of fun extras.
The S3 Supergirl Jam will again be hosted by a committee of four
talented female athletes that possess the qualities of a Supergirl
“actionista.” They are Gretchen Bleiler (snow), Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins
(skate), Kassia Meador (surf) and Fabiola da Silva (inline). The
public is encouraged to come out and enjoy a free, family-friendly,

Bear Valley Music Festival
The Bear Valley Music Festival offers a full symphony orchestra,
international soloists, legendary entertainers, and renowned
opera stars in a unique mountain setting. The Festival offers an
outdoor musical experience while under the shade of a large 1250
seat tent.
An easy three-hour drive from the Bay Area through the historic
gold country, Bear Valley sits along Highway 4 on the Ebbetts
Pass Corridor, a recently designated NATIONAL Scenic Byway

Fair Line-up
ASA Entertainment presents Big-Air BMX Triples July 29-31 in
Costa Mesa
The 2008 Orange County Fair will enjoy three days of the best in
action sports entertainment when ASA Entertainment’s Big-Air BMX
Triples event, jumps into action from July 29-31 during the
final week of this year’s OC Fair activities. At 8:15 p.m. each
night, ASA Entertainment (ASA), the global leader in action
sports event and television production, brings the excitement of
BMX bike riding to the OC Fair’s Action Sports Arena.
The Big-Air Triple Jump is a new element in BMX competition that
challenges riders to start from a 24-foot high ramp riding into
three deep valleys and over three narrow platforms. This design
allows the riders to grab ‘big air’ and perform three tricks in
succession while trekking across a 165-foot long wooden course.
This spin on BMX riding combines the best in BMX Box Jumping and
Dirt Jumping with a Mini-Mega Ramp, and was debuted with great
success at the 2007 Action Sports World Tour stop in Phoenix.

IGFA Young Angler Tournament Series
Young anglers ages six through 15 are invited to compete in a free
Young Angler Tournament this summer at the Shelter Island Pier,
located at 1776 Shelter Island Drive. This saltwater event is sponsored
by the International Game Fish Association and the San Diego Sportfishing
Council.
The tournament will feature a points system to allow for catch and
release. Winners-one in each year category between six and 15—will
be determined by adding up points for various fish caught. IGFA
representatives and volunteers from the United Pier and Shore Anglers
Club and will be on hand to assist young anglers and to tally points.
Young anglers in the competition are encouraged to bring their own
gear, although a limited number of loaner rods will be available
on a first-come, first-serve basis. Small quantities of bait will
be provided each angler while supplies last.
The Shelter Island Pier event is slated for Saturday, August 2nd
2008. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The derby begins at 10 a.m.
and ends at 1 p.m. Hot dogs, chips, and sodas will be served to
all registered young anglers. Although advanced registration is
not required, parents are urged to call the San Diego Sportfishing
Council to express interest so that food and beverage counts can

Prizes and raffle drawing items for the tournament include rods
and reels, hats, T-shirts, and fishing gear, donated by Zebco, West

Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Street Festival on April 25-27, 2008

Arts Association will host their Art Show in Grapevine Park on Saturday

Tahoe Nirvana Mountain Trail run at Northstar at Tahoe Ski Resort
on Saturday, August 16, 2008 in beautiful Lake Tahoe with great
views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierras. The course will be mostly single-track
with some double-track trails.
The 10k course will be scenic and challenging with some long ascents
and descents, including a summit climb. See Course map (RACE #3

The Mono Council for the Arts

the 38th year of the Labor Day Festival of the Arts held in the
magical forest of Sam's Wood Site. Drive into the town of
Mammoth Lakes and follow
the signs to the festival located on Minaret Road between Main Street
(Hwy. 203) and Meridian Road. This event is in conjunction with
the Million Dollar Trout Stock
and the artists are celebrating the art of fishing by bringing all
their trout artwork.
In addition to the 100 fine art and
contemporary
craft booths, activities will include a Native American Village
featuring Native American artists, Sage Romero who is famous for
his Hoop Dancing, and Cowboy Photography.
A gourmet food court will provide
Red's Hot Dogs and Sausages from around the world, Thai BBQ and
Gilroy Garlic Products to sample. Wash it down and put out the fire
with a sampling of beer from Mammoth's own
Brewing Company.
A wine tasting booth will feature California's finest wines. How
about a selection of homemade pies for dessert. Our famous clowns,
Sandy and Twinkee, will offer balloon creations for kids of all
ages. And the Sierra Studebaker Bluegrass Band will be roaming around
the grounds (forest) to keep things lively.
This event is simply not to be missed.
It's free to the public and has something for everyone. Hours are
10 am - 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday and 10 am - 5 pm on Monday.
This festival is presented by the Mono Council for the Arts and
supported by the Town of Mammoth Lakes, the California Arts Council
and the National Endowment for the Arts.
