Mendocino National Forest

the eastern spur of
the Coastal Mountain
Range in northwestern

hour drive north of
San Francisco and Sacramento.
The Forest is approximately
65 miles long and 35
miles across, consisting
of one million acres
of mountains and canyons
which offer a variety
of recreational opportunities-
camping, hiking, backpacking,
boating, fishing, hunting,
nature study, photography,
and off highway vehicle
travel. The only
one of California's
18 national Forests
not crossed by a paved
road or highway...".
Modoc National Forest
- "consists of 1,979,407
acres of which 1,654,392
acres are administered
by the Modoc National
Forest. Elevation: The
elevation ranges from
4,300 feet to 9,934
feet above sea level".
Plumas
National Forest
- "covers over
a million acres of tree
covered mountains, filled
with hundreds of high
alpine lakes and thousands
of miles of clear running
streams. The Plumas
National Forest's headwaters
flow into Lake Oroville,
part of the California
State Water System".
Shasta-Trinity National
Forests - 'located
in central northern

is home to Mt. Shasta,
